Dear Fellow Parishioners, In June seven members of our parish attended the all-day workshop offered by Divine Renovation. It was held at St. Mary’s in Uxbridge which made it very convenient for all of us to attend. From that workshop our Pastoral Planning Team decided to hold the Parish meeting on September 25th. As I reported we had a great turnout of 72 people who spent two hours together discussing the things we liked about Church and our community and the things that we were concerned about. As a follow-up to that gathering I decided to take the Divine Renovation “Kickstart” course for pastors. It is a 6-week on-line course over a 12-week period. This gives us a chance to do the homework between classes. There are six priests in the class, and I am the oldest! Go figure! The facilitator is from South Africa. So, I am walking with and learning the experiences of priests from South Africa, Ghana, Belarus, and two of us from the Diocese of Worcester. I must say, it is comforting to know that we are not alone on the faith journey, and we face similar challenges in our ministry. The good news is that we are discussing ways that can assist us all as we journey in faith as Church Universal. The wisdom we share, together with the direction from Divine Renovation is assisting us all in thinking out of the box. We move from, “we have always done it this way” to “Where is The Holy Spirit Leading us!” This fits in so well with the gathering in Rome with Pope Francis during this month of October. I feel as if our parish community is in sync with the Universal Church. So, just as we have been praying for the gathering in Rome this month, I am asking you to pray for the work we will do in our own parish as we move towards the future. Right now, I am using the passage from Habakkuk 2:2-3 as I seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit for our future: “And the LORD answered me: "Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. 3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end-it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” Please join me in listening to the Holy Spirit for our parish vision. Please share any wisdom you have heard from the Spirit with me as I journey these next 12 weeks. I will keep you posted as I continue to listen.
