Dear Fellow Parishioners, For the last year since we attended the Divine Renovation workshop in Uxbridge, we have been praying our parish vision into reality. In Proverbs 29:18 we read “Where there is no Vision, the people perish!” We have a mission statement, but we needed to pray about God’s vision for our community. Where is the Holy Spirit leading us in the years ahead here in the Catholic Community of Sacred Heart? Benny Colella, Donna Rajcula, and I prayed for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to assist us in articulating and expressing the direction for our community. After several meetings and much prayer, we realized that we need a simple, one sentence statement that we can use to shape all our ministry efforts in the months and years ahead. At our Pastoral Planning Team meeting June 24, the final statement was unanimously approved and accepted by the Team.
“Enabling all to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ!”
What is the difference between vision and mission? Vision: It focuses on the long-term and paints a compelling picture of where the Holy Spirit is leading us at this time. Mission: It concentrates on the present and outlines the purpose, values, and actions we take to achieve the vision. Our Mission as a parish community is:
“Becoming and making Disciples, Welcoming all to Follow Jesus Christ!”
With our Vision and Missions Statements in place as a lens to guide and direct our future ministry efforts, we can use our gifts, skills and talents in sync with the Holy Spirit. One of our major efforts as we move forward is to invite people to grow their relationship with Jesus Christ through Alpha. Are you thinking about making the Alpha journey? Fr. Bill
