It’s Vacation Bible School week here at Sacred Heart! Monday through Friday, July 22-26 young people from our community will focus on fun activities that teach lessons of faith in a relaxing and exciting atmosphere. I am so pleased that we are letting it “Roar!” here in our parish. God is Good!
Under the keen eye and direction of Tara Corcoran our Coordinator of Children’s Faith Formation everything is in place. Many people have come together to present a wonderful gathering space and place for faith learning. It was great to see young artists create the animals and trees and all the jungle settings necessary for this faith experience.
We have so many talented people of all ages and many who have planned this week-long event. They worked together to make it happen and it is truly a tribute to our faith community. If you get a chance, stop by the church during the morning sessions and experience the faith sharing of our second Vacation Bible School. If you didn’t sign up your son or daughter for this experience get in touch with the parish office or talk with Tara before Monday morning, July 22nd.
Speaking of July 22nd that is my birthday! I will be 67 years young and appreciate the aging process as the years go by. So many of you have taught me through your experiences to be patient as my eyes begin to fade, my energy level decreases and my memory seems to, ah, what was I saying? Yardwork that I used to do in one fell swoop now takes an additional day or two, but it gets done. I just need to be patient with myself. Of course, I am sounding like I am falling apart, and that is not the case. I am still walking at least six miles a day, still going to Zumba for aerobic exercises twice a week, keeping my garden planted, watered and weeded; cleaning my house, doing major yard work, and shepherding our parish community. Am I jealous of all my high school classmates who are retired? Not one bit! Why, because I am 67 years young!
