Being able to come into the church on a daily basis to have a quiet place to pray is appreciated, especially in our hectic, noisy and wild world. Each morning Larry Ghelli opens the church so that people have that opportunity to have a quiet place to slow down, pray, and breath in the presence of God. How lucky we are to have the dedication of people like Larry offering his gift of time each day so we can get a break.
I watch the patience of Gerald Marais as he works with our newly recruited altar servers. He has been dedicated for years in assisting each person who comes forward to build up their confidence to minster at the ambo and altar. Even though we seem to be starting from scratch since Covid-19, Gerald is right there to bring out the best in those who answer the call to serve. Anyone who has made their first communion is eligible to be an altar server, including adults.
Many comments on how great it is to have words to music, readings and Mass responses on the AV screen. Visitors are impressed with our active Mass participation. Many of our elderly were reluctant to have the availability of AV equipment in the church, but that has all changed. “I love not having to hold a book and needing my bifocals!” How blessed we are. However, we need people to be AV-ministers, both for the Mass content and people to run the live-streaming equipment in the loft. If you love technology – or even if you don’t, we can use your assistance. The more people who help the less time you are needed on the schedule. Please prayerfully consider sharing your gifts with the community.
There are many ministries in our community. At the doors of the church, you will find a Stewardship Catalogue describing the various ministries. Please don’t sit back and let everyone else take care of you. Often, I hear, “No one asked me to help!” This is the ask - this is the invitation. Please consider helping in our parish community.
A special thank you to Fr. Jim for making it possible for me to be away this weekend. I am sure you will give him a warm Sacred Heart welcome.
