Do you know how important you are to each other? Sometimes we forget that as individuals and families we are a sign, source, and a witness of the support and encouragement for each other. I have heard it said repeatedly, I love being a part of this community, it is great to see the faithful elderly that are present no matter what the weather is outside, they are here. And from our elders I hear how thrilled they are to see the young families present for Mass each weekend. Just being present helps to build the community of faith that we are meant to be for each other.
This past weekend when we thought there would be no heat, we were pleasantly surprised to be up and running. Even so, many of you still came and just bundled up. The words of encouragement and acceptance of the situation were many:
·The best laid plans…this too will pass ·It’s only and hour, the important thing is that we come together! ·This is the highlight of my week, I wouldn’t miss it, heat or no heat. ·I’ve sat through Patriots games that were colder!
That’s just a few of the comments from the members of the community as we gather. Yes, we are important to each other, and we sometimes forget how very true that is. At the same time there are some that we haven’t seen in a while, and it is up to each and everyone of us who notices that someone hasn’t been around to give them a call and let them know they are missed. I know that with Covid-19 things have changed a great deal. Some are playing it safe. Others may have gotten out of the habit of gathering as a community. If you miss seeing someone at church, let them know they are missed.
Being The Catholic Community of Sacred Heart is intentional on our part. We all need to support each other on the faith journey. Let us encourage each other along the way, bringing comfort and joy to all!
