Pope Francis has called a Synod (the word synod means Coming together) entitled “Synod 2021-2023: For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.” It will open in Rome in October 2023. Wisdom and insights in preparation for this Synod is being sought from every local Church throughout the world. There is a process for doing this.
The process begins with prayer throughout the world on Sunday October 17th. At the Cathedral Church of each diocese the Bishop will gather with faithful from throughout the Diocese to pray for the success and guidance of the Hoy Spirit for the work ahead. Bishop Mc Manus will celebrate Mass at St. Paul’s Cathedral at 10:00 A.M. for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit as the Universal Church begins with our Holy Father to prepare for the upcoming Roman Synod in October 2023.
If you would like to represent our parish at this Mass, please call Tina in the office by Wednesday noon Oct. 13th. I would encourage carpooling, as the parking at the Cathedral is limited.
All the rain that we have been getting these past few months has decided to enter the building through the floors in the classrooms soiling the carpets, and through the ceiling in the sacristy in the church. The old Morton Salt theme seems to fit, “When it rains, it pours!” So, the members of the building and grounds team are in action contacting Catholic Mutual our insurance company, Servpro, and several parishioners moving furniture etc. The work in the sacristy will take time because we are on a long list of “water problems” all over the state. So, we are setting up shop in the Sacristy lounge, the room across from the Sacristy. All ministers for Mass are asked to work from the Sacristy Lounge till further notice. More info will be given as things unfold.
Several of you have mentioned the tensions that have arisen in your families, workplaces and among neighbors regarding the political divisions, mask, and vaccine differences etc. Our Voluntas Dei Bay State team is hosting a Day of Recollection addressing these issues. All are welcome to attend. The details are in the bulletin.
