The Summer of 2018 comes to an end, and so does our summer schedule. Many have mentioned they love the feel of the one Mass on Sunday with so many people attending. I, too feel the same way, but we move onto the two Masses on Sunday. There are many plusses with the single Mass, in that there is a fuller house, and there would be more time for Faith Formation and longer time to build community during Coffee and. However, there are many who have sports and other activities that require us to move back to the two Mass schedule. If I hear otherwise from you, I am more than happy to accommodate the needs of the community.
I had a wonderful opportunity to sit with seven nurses at Ariana and David Poirier’s wedding reception Sunday. We had great conversation, food, and dancing at the celebration. I thought I would break the ice and said, “So, you want us all to vote YES on question one.” Well, I got set straight, all seven-said vote NO on ballot question one. If it passes, small hospitals will not be able to keep up with the requirement and have to close, raising the cost of health care for all. Well that was a surprise. Glad I checked that out with the nurses involved first hand in the situation. How important it is to keep informed on all the issues.
Last week, Ray Cadoret, Roger Brothers, Chris and Cam Davis, Ernie Chaplin, Bill York and Rob Russell took the four remaining old front doors from the police station to Allied recycling center in Walpole. The four doors if they were in architectural salvage condition as they were when we took them off the building would have brought $12,000.00; however after being damaged, we received $918.00. Ray and I will be working with our insurance company to receive further reimbursement for the two doors that are gone, and maybe gain something for the damage to the other four doors. Crime does not pay, neither for the victim nor the thieves; we all lost.
Again, if anyone wishes to speak with me regarding the betrayal of the church by abuse issues and coverup disclosed in the Pennsylvania Grand Jury report, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am more than happy to sit with you and listen.
We welcome Fr, Christopher Ezeh as he joins us this weekend to invite our support for the Diocese of Awka, Nigeria. May we support him in the wonderful work they do.
