Dear Fellow Parishioners, There are many projects that are in the works, and it has been a while since I have mentioned them. The two that I would like to focus on are the solar site lease project with NextGrid and the church heating distribution system that needs to be replaced. About seven years ago we began investigating the possibility of installing solar on the campus. We had several proposals with panels on the roofs to carports over the parking lot. You cannot imagine the process for this to happen on church property. With much persistence and perseverance, we finally have signed and notarized documents that will be sent to Bishop McManus this week. There will be solar carports in our parking lot. The plan, at this time, is to begin construction in September. We will be receiving rent from NextGrid for use of our airspace. Along with installing the car ports, they will repair the damaged areas our parking lot, completely sealcoat and repaint the parking spaces, which in itself is a large saving for us. Our close to 60-year-old radiant heating distribution system began leaking this winter and is beyond repair. A huge heating vent for warehouses was installed in the sanctuary to help us make it through the winter. While this temporary system cost us about $7000, Gervais is willing to purchase it back from us and credit us our cost towards the new system. We estimate that the new system, which will include all new duct work in the church and will be air-conditioning ready for when we need to replace our current A/C system, will cost us approximately $150,000. Currently we have $60,000 in our Endowment Fund towards this expense. We will begin installing an alternative heating distribution system before winter. We are putting aside monies for this major project so that we are not taking out a loan, nor holding a capital campaign to cover the cost of this work. That is one reason why the Multi-parish raffle is so important. The funds from this fundraiser are being put aside to provide some of the funding for the heating distribution system. The parish recognizes $12.50 from each ticket sold. The other great part of this raffle is that it is no work to the parish, it is all managed by the main parish that sponsors the raffle. I am asking all of you to please sell the tickets you have received, and if possible, to pick up more from the office. I have sold my five to family members and am trying to sell an additional five. As homeowners, you know there are always home repairs to be made. We have a large, older campus needing many repairs. We have also had major plumbing expenses in the Parish House over the last year that thanks to your continued generosity, we were able to fund from our Endowment Fund. I thank all those who volunteer their time to help keep track of the repairs and oversee interior and exterior maintenance, especially Kevin Maldarelli who has worked tirelessly to make the solar project a reality.
