Dear Fellow Parishioners, Join us in prayer! Everyday since the 13 of us finished our Alpha course several of us have set the alarm on our phone to ring at 11:02 in order to remind us to pray for those who wish to grow deeper in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and our community of faith. Why 11:02? It connects with the Gospel of Luke chapter 11 verse 2. “So, Jesus said to them, When you pray, say, Our Father who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name” Prayer always begins with relationship. If there is not an established relationship, there is no basis for prayer. The Father's ear is always open to the children's cry. Jesus gives us permission to call His Father, Our Father. So, we are praying for a deepening of our relationship with Jesus and with each other as a faith community. I am asking you to join us in prayer for our Alpha efforts. Pray that God calls the right people forward to be our Alpha team. Pray that you may answer the call to deepen your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and our faith community. Pray for those who will step forward to begin the Alpha process. Deepening relationships takes time, and that sacrifice of time to deepen our faith is a challenge. For those of you reading this letter as part of the parish briefs there is an opportunity for communal prayer this Friday June 7th, with music led by Anne Marie Smith and Jonathan Capece and Karen Daige at 7:00 PM in the church. Every day when my phone alarm rings at 11:02 I raise up in prayer those of us who have attended our Alpha Pilot and ask the Holy Spirit to fill my heart with God’s goodness and love, as well as each person in our Sacred Heart Community. There are many whom I see as we gather for Mass and activities whom I am praying for specifically to join us on the Alpha Faith journey. To learn more about alpha go to alphausa.org. Join us in prayer! Is God calling you to a deeper relationship? Are there friends and family members you would like to see on the Alpha journey? Raise them up in prayer! Fr. Bill
