It’s a New Year and still the Christmas Season through Monday, January 8
th when we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. I am sure that many of us have made our New Year’s resolutions with great intentions to keep them. As this New Year begins I invite us to focus on our spiritual lives and make time to attend the Annual Parish Retreat directed by Fr. Carl Chudy. It will be here in our parish center Friday January 19
th and Saturday, January 20
th. It is free, but due to meal planning you must sign up. Details are elsewhere in the bulletin, in briefs, on the website and on the pamphlets in the church.
Behind the scenes we did a major $7,000.00 plumbing repair changing all the gate valves in the control room to ball valves and repairing all the urinals and toilets in the parish center; plus several other small repairs. We were unable to shut off any of the water valves in the building due to the age of the gate valves. Thanks to your continued support of our parish we were able to take care of this before we had any major flooding.
I am heading to Washington DC for a week, leaving Sunday morning January 7
th. Through “connections” I was able to obtain tickets to the Afro-American Museum for Monday January 8
th and the Native-American Museum for Wednesday January 10
th. I then purchased tickets for the Spy Museum for Tuesday and am looking forward to a relaxing week after the Advent and Christmas schedule. I thank Msgr. John Doran for again being available to take the morning Masses on Sunday January 7
th. I will be back for the Masses on the following weekend.
Again, let’s get together for the annual retreat and beef up our skills on working together to grow our Catholic Community here at Sacred Heart.
