This past weekend I spoke about the Gospel call by Jesus to be vigilant and faithful. As Catholics, our worship at Mass (keeping Holy the Sabbath) means we are gathered (Two or more gathered in His name) and sent (go into the world and spread the good news!). Through prayer, I believe we are called to enhance our presence in the world as faithful and vigilant disciples of Christ.
Again I ask you to investigate
JustFaith.org. I am also inviting you to a presentation on JustFaith by Deacon Bill Toller from Holy Cross Parish in Springfield, Ma. He is on the board of Directors for Just Faith and Holy Cross has been involved with JustFaith for many years. His presentation will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 26th and will be with us for one hour. Come and listen; come with your questions.
There are several ways many of you are living the Gospel message and we want to expand on that; however, please feel free to plug into that which exists at this time:
·Daily Bread Food Pantry: volunteering there, also bringing in food items to stock the shelves (When I was hungry you fed me)
·Preparing and serving food each month at the Mustard seed (Feeding the hungry again)
·Preparing and serving Monthly suppers at Trinity Church Milford (feeding the hungry)
·Donating and working at the Twice Blessed Thrift Shop in our parish center we are looking to extend the days we are open and hours of operation (clothing the naked)
·Serving in the Haiti Ministry and donating to our Sister Parish St. Gerard’s (empowering all the beatitudes in a third world country)
·Hospital Ministry and Ministers of Care: bringing communion to the hospital and homebound (when I was sick you cared for me)
·St. Vincent de Paul: (helping those who are in need)
Some of us are also living out the gospel in many ways beyond our parish campus. Wish I could list all those. Some don’t know where to begin, we are going to work together to empower us all to make a difference through our faith. In the meantime, check out JustFaith and come hear Deacon Bill on August 26th.
