Dear Fellow Parishioners, I recently met a young couple attending a funeral who met at Stonehill College. They are preparing for marriage and both active in their respective parishes. I was happy to hear that they were involved in ministries in their home parishes and asked what gave them the incentive to be so active in ministry. They made it clear that at Stonehill they deepened their faith in Jesus Christ and as Catholics, faith without service was never an option. Faith and action; faith and ministry, faith and service go hand in hand. I was happy to hear that a Catholic College like Stonehill was encouraging their students to make a difference in their parish and in the world. There are lots of events happening here in our community. Fill-A-Ford brought in a great deal of food for the Daily Bread Food Pantry. Thanks to Chuck Roessler’s initiative, many people came forward to make sure this event happened again. We were able to help those in need and keep the shelves at the pantry stocked this time of year. Under the coordination of Tara Cocoran and the work of so many others, we were able to celebrate Treats with the Saints. Our young people learned about specific saints and also learned that Halloween (a secular celebration) stems from our celebration of All Saints Day. Elli Maurais gathered new members to strengthen our ties to our twin parish St. Gerard’s in Haiti. The Annual Parish Fair has a wonderful team as Brenda Fishlock and Christine Gaffney encourage everyone to work together to make it happen. The Twice Blessed Boutique is under the management of Michelle Faherty and a team is working together to transform our thrift shop. Jennie Marshall and Kayla Beckvold are the agents behind the 25+ members of the Children’s Christmas Choir. This weekend, Rob Callahan will be inviting you to get involved. Everyone has a gift to share, and we can all assist in the many ministries that are offered in our Stewardship Catalogue. It’s not just attending Mass on the weekend that makes us a faith-filled person. Faith is expressed in the way were practice as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. It is the ways we make sure that we move from being a guest in the parish to being a host. Or as I have affectionately said in the past moving from being a “pew potato” to a dynamic disciple! Fr. Bill
