Intro to Church - Preschool-Grade 1
Children continue to grow in faith when they are introduced to the larger faith community beyond their immediate family.
Teaching Masses - this year’s theme: An Overview of Being Catholic
Once a month, at the end of Mass there will be a 10-15 minute teaching on a different topic from our Catholic tradition. Everyone is invited to then gather in the parish center for an opportunity to build community with one another, discuss and briefly share on the topic, and enjoy a beverage and breakfast treat.
Mar 4 - 5 Apr 1 - 9 May 6- 7
Service Sundays
Together as a whole community, we will explore what it means to put our faith into action. On four weekends over the course of this year, we will have a short presentation during Mass. After Mass, everyone can choose how to engage in the service/mission topic: by discussing as an individual household/family, sharing after Mass during “Coffee And” in the parish center, or joining in a parish Zoom group during the week. Each Service Sunday will have a focus and questions to reflect on, an activity to do together, and a list of opportunities to serve that people may choose from.
Mar 18 - 19
Family Learning Events
Everything we do together as a parish community is an opportunity to form faith. Parish events such as the yard sale, Christmas Fair, Fill a Ford, Seder Supper, or Walk the Walk can be things to participate in as a family. Celebrating the different liturgical feasts of the year or being part of blessings such as “back to school/backpacks”, “getting one’s license”, “mothers or fathers day” all provide teaching moments. There are many parish activities on the calendar this year, but we are especially excited to offer these family community building activities:
Lent Prayer Stations May 13 - Family Game Night
Kids Chapel
At Saturday 4pm or Sunday 9:30AM, young children are invited to take part in this experience that mimics the four movements of Mass (gathering, storytelling, meal sharing, sending forth.)
This opportunity for the younger members of our parish to “experience” church in a child focused way.
Children may process in with the priest and liturgical ministers and gather in the sanctuary for the beginning of Mass. Then they are dismissed to their own “worship” space where they will listen to a story related to the message in the weekly readings, complete a related craft activity or participate in music/movement prayer experience, have a little snack and then return to the community and their families after Communion for the final blessing. This experience is meant to mimic what happens at Mass: Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of the Bread.
Feb 11/12 Feb 25/26 Mar 11/12
Coloring/activity sheets and take home activity will reflect the readings of the week, Feast or liturgical season.
The fee for Faith Formation classes is $80.
