Dear Fellow Parishioners, I am staring at a blank screen as I prepare to write my last bulletin letter before I go on vacation. In order for me to take a vacation I need to make sure that there is “coverage” while I am away. That means I need to find a priest to celebrate the weekend Masses while I am gone. The challenge of doing that gets more difficult as we age, because there are fewer priests available to fill-in. Fortunately, Fr. Jim Lyons will celebrate the two Saturday Masses and Fr. Greg Hoppough will celebrate the two Sunday Masses while I am gone. The weekend of August 5 and 6, Fr. John Kwandwo Agyekum from the Diocese of Obuasi in Ghana, Africa will be sharing the needs of their missionary diocese and seeking our assistance in supporting their ministries. We will hold a second collection this weekend. As we have done in the past, we will give you the opportunity to support Obuasi ministries during the month of August, by indicating on an envelope “Mission Appeal” so that your donation is designed to assist our brothers and sisters in Obuasi. Some of you have asked where I am going for vacation. I will be taking a cruise of Northern Europe to countries I have never visited. Leaving from South Hampton, England I will be visiting: Zeebrugge Brussels, Brugge Belgium, Amsterdam Netherlands, Bergin Norway, Alesund Norway, Akureyri, Isafjordur and Reykjavik, Iceland and then home to Boston. Traveling these days is a challenge with so many flight cancelations. I am just hoping my flight from Boston to London gets me to the cruise ship on time! In any case, I will be away from my desk and taking time to read, relax and visit with people who will expand my horizons and get to know more of our world. One thing I am most interested in is visiting the “Hiding Place” and understanding the Anne Frank story from where it all happened. I am sure you will hear more about it when I return. I am sure you will give a warm Sacred Heart welcome to Fr Jim, Fr. Greg, and Fr. John as they share their priestly ministry with us. Next week, (August 7th-11th) the parish office will be closed as Tina is on vacation and Pam is recovering from an appendectomy. If a need arises, please email Pam or Tina and they will get back to you as soon as they can. Fr. Bill
