In the name of the Father,
and of the Son (+),
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
PENITENTIAL ACT
Brothers and sisters,
let us acknowledge our sins.
A brief pause for silence follows. Then all recite together the formula of general confession:
I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
OPENING PRAYER
Let us pray.
O God, perfect light of the blessed,
by whose gift we celebrate the paschal mysteries on earth, bring us, we pray,
to rejoice in the full measure of your grace for ages unending.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL
That the leaders of the Church, following the example of Simon Peter, might heed the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in guiding God’s people along true paths.
We pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.
That all those in government service might labor toward the common good.
We pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.
That children and young people might recognize those in their own families who have sacrificed their own lives for the sake of their futures.
We pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.
That all who thirst for the living God might be quenched by the living water that only He can give.
We pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.
That Jesus, the Good Shepherd, might bring all who have died into the eternal sheepfold.
We pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.
LORD’S PRAYER
At the Savior’s command
and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
CLOSING PRAYER
Look with kindness upon your people, O Lord,
and grant, we pray,
that those you were pleased to renew by eternal mysteries may attain in their flesh
the incorruptible glory of the resurrection.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
DIOCESAN PRAYER IN TIME OF PANDEMIC
O God,
whose Only Begotten Son
bore the weight of human suffering for our salvation,
hear the prayers of your Church
for our sick brothers and sisters
and deliver us from this time of trial.
Open our ears and our hearts to the voice of your Son:
Be not afraid, for I am with you always.
Bless all doctors and nurses, researchers and public servants;
give us the wisdom to do what is right
and the faith to endure this hour,
that we might gather once again to praise your name
in the heart of your Church,
delivered from all distress and confident in your mercy.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
BLESSING
May Almighty God bless us,
the Father (+),
and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
