Have you spent time considering your stewardship of
TIME? Some have mentioned that it is easy to be involved in ministry and donate to the church, especially electronically; out of sight, out of mind! But our stewardship of time is not something electronic or autopilot. As a matter of fact, spending time with God in prayer, is really a gift not only to God but a very wonderful gift to ourselves, the gift of mindfulness.
For those who are able, have you considered attending daily Mass at 9:00am at least one morning a week? We gather in the Manella Chapel and pray with and for one another and the needs of so many others. It is a faith community that looks after and supports each other in so very many ways.
The church is open every day from 7:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M Have you thought of spending time in prayer, lighting a candle, and just simply quieting your heart, giving yourself a break, before school or work or after school or work?
Do you have a “prayer corner” in your home? A place where you keep your Bible, a journal and a candle and make an appointment to spend quiet time each day, just you and God?
How many love to walk for exercise? Have you thought of praying the rosary during that walk? Taking time to reflect on the mysteries of the rosary and meditating on your own, joyful, sorrowful and glorious events in your life and asking God to be present in those moments?
Work late? Make time to come to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament the 4th Monday of the month in the Manella Chapel from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Come for an hour, come for 15 minutes; just come and be at peace.
How about joining a small group? There are several groups that meet throughout the year. Interested? Call the parish office for more details.
The men’s retreat is coming and so is our Annual Parish retreat on January 19th and 20th. Why not make an appointment to journey with others who desire to deepen their faith? Put it in your calendar now and make it a priority.
Looking to grow deeper in your spiritual life? Why not come to the Day of Recollection on November 4th in our Parish Center from 9:30-3:00 and find out more about the Voluntas Dei Secular Institute is about.
Yes, time spent with God in prayer, is really a great gift to yourself. Take a risk, make a commitment to be a good steward to God and to yourself!
Our Annual Stewardship Commitment weekend is October 21th and 22th. Show how much you value our faith journey at SacredHeart!
