Dear Fellow Parishioners, Stewardship materials are on the way and I hope all registered households in the parish receive them this week. Please take the time to review them as a family and prayerfully encourage each member to recognize their personal talents that can be offered to the ministries we share as a community. As you review the ministry opportunities, I ask you to come this weekend with any questions you may have regarding the ministries that catch your heart. Don’t worry about completing your card for this weekend. I want everyone to be well informed before anyone makes a commitment. Faith is caught not taught. Spending time in prayer as a family is very important. Growing in your prayer life as an individual and a family takes commitment. As you review the suggestions for prayer, try to focus on the invitation to pray as a family. Grace at meals for example does not need to take place around the dining room table at home. Joining hands and praying in a restaurant sends a message to others that you are grateful for the gifts you have received. Have you thought about praying for the food received at the drive thru? Saying a prayer for the server and those who are often times working for minimum wage? Even praying at the ice cream stand! Our finances are clearly stated in the commitment card. We need your monetary support to continue our ministry presence. Sadly, several Catholic parishes in the Blackstone Valley have had to close their doors because they were not able to rise to their stewardship commitments of time, talent, and treasure. It takes all of us to rise to the occasion and make a commitment to be a viable community of faith. Besides asking for commitments of time, talent, and treasure, this Sunday after the 9:30 Mass we need your muscles! We need to move all the furniture out of the first floor of the parish house so the floors can be refinished. Please consider spending a little extra time after Mass to assist in this project. Hopefully next weekend when all is done, we will again need assistance moving everything back into place.
