Some of us are old enough to remember the Wendy’s “Where’s the beef?” commercial. How pleased I was during these past several weeks when all of you came bundled up for Mass each weekend and I never heard once, “Where’s the heat?” You all understood the situation and went with the flow. The Building and Grounds Team led by Bill Parent and Kevin Maldarelli; and the Finance Team, led by Rob Callahan, worked well together and communicated well to make sure everything was in place for the boilers to be installed as quickly as possible. I tried to keep you informed every step of the way as to where we were and what was happening.
I was pleased that we had the money in savings so that we could take care of this $65,000.00 expense, thanks to your generosity. Then several people sent in checks to help cover the cost of the new boilers. One person’s remarks made me so very grateful to be on this journey with you. “We have to replace that money in savings, this is our savings account, and other unforeseen needs will be coming our way!”
“This is our savings account!” How wonderful it is when I see you have truly taken ownership of our parish. We are on this journey together and need to realize that if we are going to continue be a vibrant and viable parish, we need to be good stewards of the legacy that has been passed on to us over these past 86 years we have been a parish in Hopedale.
I know that we all have busy schedules, and the Stewardship commitment cards we sent in the mail may have gotten lost in the shuffle. I am hoping that you will take the time to make your commitment of time, talent and treasure known so that we can secure our future together for the next year. You can also fill out your stewardship to the parish on our website if you misplaced card. There are additional cards and materials at all the entrances of the church.
