What a wild and wonderful journey this week as all ages assembled for Vacation Bible School (VBS)! Because of Covid-19, it’s been five long years since our last VBS week. How great to be able to start up again. It is an adventure to walk through the hallways into the parish center and into the church. The Scuba theme decorations and diving into a deep relationship with God surrounds. So many hours of work, creativity and energy were on display. I wish everyone could see the talent shared throughout the week.
How often have we heard, “It takes a village?” Truly the resounding call of Tara Corcoran and Kelley Barrett inviting people to come together for this event was answered by so many. Many gave their time for weeks in preparation and throughout the week to make it all happen.
A sincere thank you to: Megan Alley, Sam Catalogna, Meredith Daelhousen, Mitchell Daelhousen, Rory Goyette, Kathleen Kavanagh, Kelly Kavanagh, Molly Klupta, Brendan McShane, Ella Innocent, Jon Marshall, Mike Conciatori, Jess Allen, Meg Allen, Matt Daelhousen, Eddie Holland, Bryton Buckley, Rachel Largey, Mary Mainini, Victor Lantini, Nina Lantini, Ben Catalogna, Amy Catalogna, and Phil Goyette.
Of course, I need to mention all the members of our parish who made monetary donations and those who donated supplies to keep the costs of running the program reasonable. Someone picked up a slip for “Twinkies.” They were surprised, “I didn’t know they still made Twinkies. I loved them when I was a kid!”
Vacation Bible School is really “intergenerational learning” at its best, cultivating great friendships, community building and creating wonderful memories. How good it is to witness ages 3-74 all growing in their faith as we celebrate The Catholic Community of Sacred Heart.
Now we move forward to deepen our relationship with each other and Jesus Christ through Faith Formation and Alpha. We are companions of the journey!
