Dear Fellow Parishioners, What a challenge it was to choose a date for vacation this year. I was hoping to go in May after Easter, but there were lots of events taking place here at Sacred Heart and with family. The Church consecration, confirmation, First Communions, a family wedding and then, the wonderful ordination of Deacon Tom Tierney and his Mass of thanksgiving this weekend. I certainly didn’t want to miss any of those significant events in the lives of our Catholic Community. I will be missing some Graduation Celebrations but know that each person that has invited me to join them understands my absence. This year is an odd numbered year, so I am traveling “locally” in the U.S.A. I am visiting the last state I have yet to visit. I leave for Alaska on Monday June 3rd heading first to visit a few friends in Vancouver, B.C. before getting on my cruise ship June 5th-12th; then a land tour the 12th -17th, finishing in Anchorage where I will visit two priest friends of mine till I return on the 20th. I know Alaska is a huge state, and this is a world-wind tour, but I am sure that I will take in as much as possible. I always like a challenge and to do things that I don’t get to do around here, so I am looking forward to the dogsled races. I am sure they will keep me upright since it is a tourist opportunity offered by the tour company. While I am away, you will be in the capable hands of Pam Chaplin, Deacon Tom Tierney, and Msgr. John Doran will celebrate the weekend Masses. He will also be available for funerals if need be. Next year many of us are off to the Passion Play of Oberammergau in Germany and Austria. There are still two openings if anyone wishes to join us. Don’t miss out! I am sure we will have a memorable time on our journey. Don’t forget your tickets for the Dynamic Catholic Event hosted in our parish on September 15th. It is a faith-filled event you and family members will not want to miss. Happy Last week of Easter!
