Dear Fellow Parishioners, Happy New Year everyone! And what strange events are unfolding as we enter this New Year. Several time I have read the words “Navigating the New Year!” When I think of navigating, I tend to think of finding the right way to deal with a difficult or complicated situation. Why should this year be different from any other year? It could be the unknowns, but there are lots of those for all of us in every year. The pandemic certainly plays a part and the political situation sure is complicated. All are out of our hands. Many things will continue to occur here at Sacred Heart in the months ahead.
On February 2nd we will begin our Faith and Racial Healing course. I am looking forward to making the journey together and deepening our understanding and desire to embrace truth, justice, and restoration. Grappling with the big picture of racial injustice with others helps us to come to a place where we can make a difference in the world.
That Man is You will begin another 13-week journey with a Saturday 7:30-8:00 A.M. Zoom meeting for men. If you are interested, please let Ernie Chaplin know and he will send you the link for the weekly half-hour film and the link for the zoom meeting.
The Annual Partners in Charity appeal has begun, our goal in the same as last year, $43,200.00. I am asking everyone to be as generous as possible. It would be great if parishioners who have not given in the past help us out in meeting our goal to assist the Diocese in the ministry and educational needs all our parishes.
The Pastoral Planning Team is looking for your wisdom. We want to make sure we are asking everyone the right questions as we prepare for a post-pandemic parish community. If you are interested in helping us put together a parish needs assessment/survey please let me know, we would be happy to have your wisdom in this process.
In the spring we will be conducting a Diocesan Capital Campaign “Legacy of Hope.” We have a team together from last year when we were supposed to conduct the campaign. Will keep you posted as that unfolds. We will do the best we can.
This Lent, Holy Week and Easter will be an improvement from 2020 in that we will be able to invite you to church, rather than simply live-streaming our services. So, let’s breathe, take one day at a time, and see how everything unfolds, as we “navigate” a New Year!
