I am hoping that everyone had a spiritually uplifting Lent 2020. Together we had an opportunity to “Be Open” to the Spirit, to Listen, to Living Waters, to See, to Believe and even be open to Death. I am sure this was just a part of your spiritual growth and development during this Lenten Season. I am encouraging you to look back at the journey and highlight the positives of your journey and the negatives that brought challenge. If need be, you can return to any of the Sunday Homilies on these topics to refresh, renew or restart the spiritual growth begun as a community of faith.
We had 40 days of fasting, prayer and acts of charity. The Church in its wisdom gives us 50 days of the Easter Season to assist us remembering that nothing should sadden us so much that we forget the joy of resurrection and the promise of eternal life. Our homily series is entitled “Uprising.” The stone is rolled aside, the tomb is empty. Christ is Alive. Death is defeated. All is made NEW! As followers of Jesus Christ we are called to open our eyes to all that is new!
Follow together as we journey: New Doubts, New Road, New Voice, New Home, New Commandment, and New Mission. Take the time to prayerfully read the scriptures before we live stream at 8:30 on Sunday and grapple with the texts to shape this uprising of new life and wholeness. Where is the Spirit leading you in each of these weeks of the Easter Season until we celebrate on the seventh week, the feast of Pentecost?
I want to thank all of you who have contributed to the Partner’s in Charity appeal. We are the second parish in the diocese to exceed our goal of $43,200. Your willingness to assist the ministries and charities of our diocese is a tremendous witness to all.
Just a reminder, Sacred Heart relies on the weekly collection to keep our parish operating. During this crisis, we are asking all parishioners to consider on-line giving. To access online giving; you can either register for an account or use the ‘Quick Give’ option to give a one-time gift, visit our website at https://sacredhearthopedale.org/donate.
If you are not comfortable with online giving, you can also mail your donation to the parish office. Thank you for your generosity during these uncertain times.
