Weekly faith formation classes are held in between the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Masses for grade 2-6 and on Saturday evenings after the 4pm Mass for grades 7 & 8. Faith formation topics are associated with the Sunday readings and the homily series. The six doctrinal themes of the Catholic Church; Church Feasts & Seasons, Sacraments, Social Justice, Morality, Prayer and Spirituality and Creed are covered over the course of the year. Adults and teens are needed to lead the weekly classes that are held from September to May.
The Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) is the process by which adults become Catholic, receive sacraments they missed as a child, or return to the Church. Team members and sponsors are needed to provide education, hospitality, support and facilitation at gatherings and to guide those interested in becoming Catholic on their journey toward a fuller practice of the Catholic Faith.
Members of the Baptism, First Eucharist, Confirmation, and Marriage preparation teams assist those who are interested in the reception of a sacrament to discern their readiness. Each year, ministers are needed to identify candidates’ readiness, facilitate preparation sessions, and prepare candidates to celebrate the Sacrament during the liturgies of the parish faith community.
Fishers and Finders is the worship experience for children in grades 3-5. Adult and teen leaders are needed to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word adapted to this age level. Leaders will proclaim the Sunday readings, explain the message of the Sunday Gospel and lead the children in prayer and reflection. Leaders are provided with all of the materials necessary to assist them in the preparation of the reflection and prayer. Leaders are scheduled to serve once per month.
Cherub’s Corner is offered for children ages 3 through kindergarten where preschool children can know, grow, and show God’s love! Adult and teen leaders are needed to lead the children through a lesson that focuses on the Sunday readings and teach simple prayers. Leaders are provided with all of the materials necessary to assist them in the preparation of the lesson and prayer. Leaders are scheduled to serve once per month.
