Our parishes and families are deeply affected over sweeping changes happening in the practice of the Catholic faith. Large numbers of young people are leaving the Church, many are disconnecting from any form of institutional religion, and in some cases, in belief in God. Young and older are seeking meaning, community, and inspiration in a society where religious affiliation is declining and new forms of social engagement are rising. How can we as Catholics understand more deeply what is going on, and how do we respond? How do we pass on our faith tradition to a new generation?
Uncertainty, in the context of faith, is the road to a new hope and vision. This retreat looks to where our uncertainty can take us. We will use the wisdom of our scriptures & tradition as we catch a glimpse of our post-Christian, post-secular world, to show how
religious and non-religious can connect in meaningful ways, and propose fresh thinking on what it means to be Catholic in a culture of choice.
